LadyHere’s Your Wreath is a classic noir crime novel by James Hadley Chase, first published in 1940. The story follows journalist Steve Harmas (in some editions, it’s a different protagonist) as he investigates the mysterious death of a black American boxer who was tipped to become a world champion. Initially thought to be a suicide, the case draws Harmas into a dangerous world of gangsters, political intrigue, and racial tension. As he digs deeper, he uncovers a web of corruption and betrayal that puts his own life at risk. The novel is tightly plotted, with Chases signature hardboiled style, and keeps readers guessing until the final pages.

About the Author

James Hadley Chase was the pseudonym of Ren Brabazon Raymond (19061985), a British author who became one of the most successful crime writers of the 20th century. Though he never lived in America, many of his novels are set in the U.S. and are heavily influenced by American pulp fiction and gangster culture. Chase wrote more than 90 thrillers, known for their fast-paced plots, gritty realism, and morally complex characters. His work enjoyed massive popularity across Europe and Asia, and several of his books were adapted into films. Despite some criticism for formulaic plots, Chase remains a staple in the crime and noir fiction genres.
